Financial Software Engineering

I work as a Software Engineer for the financial services industry in London, where I architect and implement real-time trading systems. Over the last 12 years, I have developed applications in C# and Java for trading desks at Barclays Capital, Royal Bank of Scotland, Merrill Lynch, Bank of America, the London Stock Exchange, two top hedge funds and other City firms.

Artificial Intelligence Research

I am also a part-time PhD researcher at the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, University of Leeds. My research focuses on applying techniques from Machine Learning and Natural Language Parsing to help understand historical texts written in classical languages, using statistical modelling.

Interests

I graduated in 2001 with a Masters degree in Mathematics and numerical computation from Imperial College, London. I continue to have a keen interest in mathematics and theoretical physics, including Quantum Mechanics and General Relativity. I am waiting to see with interest if the Large Hadron Collider at CERN confirms the Higgs Boson discovery, verifying the standard model of particle physics.

As well as keeping up with the latest new discoveries in AI and physics, I also really enjoy:
